May, June, July 2018, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8pm depart Moher Sports Field (free parking). Tea/coffee and homemade scones served afterwards al fresco.
If you want to get away from the crowds and totally immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and scents of the Wild Atlantic Way, this guided sunset walk along part of the Cliffs of Moher Coastal trail is for you.
The walk will start at the Moher Sports Field in the townland of Kilconnell and you will be shown the location of the “Cillin” or ancient children’s burial ground that gives the place its name. On the walk to Hags Head you will see the old houses and sheds roofed with Liscannor stone that is quarried along the top the Cliffs of Moher. When you arrive at Hags Head, take in the best view of the Cliffs of Moher and see the remains of the old fort that gave the majestic Moher Cliffs their name. As the sun begins to set, breath in the fresh Atlantic Air, smell the plants and wild flowers that cling to this majestic outpost and listen to the seabirds call goodnight to the ebbing daylight. Local folklore and tales will be told about this site others in your line of sight including that of Kilstapheen – the lost “Atlantis” of Liscannor Bay.
