St Brigid is an important local saint in Liscannor. On this guided walk you will hear how her life and acts continue to be celebrated here at her Holy Well on her Pattern Day on the 1st February. Hear how the vestiges of the ancient Celtic Festival of Lughnasa have endured in this area through the ages and continue to be celebrated on the 15th August every year. Learn about the local landlord Cornelius O’Brien, who is reputed to have received a cure from the Holy Waters of St. Brigid’s Well. You will see his final resting place and the memorial that was built in his name as the father of Clare Tourism and the original developer of the Cliffs of Moher as a tourist attraction.
